		<description>yeah -- like what was the big deal? so he wanted to say something to kids because the results were in that as of 2008, it&#039;s now a solid third of high school seniors are dropping out and not graduating these days. one third! it&#039;s never been that bad before. which is quite alarming and embarrassing to us as a country i think, that education is not valued and that so many kids are dropping out and don&#039;t care.

but it was amazing to see how many people felt so threatened by his little pep talk to school children! the fear and hatred are just brimming over these days. hard for me to understand, honestly. what can possibly be so threatening about a little pep talk to create such a fuss? though i suppose it would be good if kids did finish school, and did have enough respect for elders -- especially maybe their president, who&#039;s trying to speak directly to them, even if he&#039;s of a different political party than their parents, he&#039;s still the president of their country. and perhaps that sort of attitude plays a very big part of the high drop-out rate, come to think of it. if everything is reduced to petty politics, we all lose. especially the children.
